A Delicious Berry Mocktail
Earlier this year I went to this amazing cocktail parlor, Bitter and Twisted, with my friends during our recent trip to Phoenix. I don’t actually drink alcohol so I can’t tell you anything about the cocktails, but the thing that I loved most was that they actually offered an entire mocktail menu. And on top of that, they offered different fruity mocktails as well that weren’t even on the menu. I tried every fruity flavor combination they could come up with (and grilled cheese bites!) while my friends were drinking all sorts of things with creative names. My favorite out of all of the mocktails was a sparkling berry mocktail. It was probably one of the best mocktails I’ve ever tried, and I try a lot of mocktails. So of course I tried to recreate it as soon as I got home! This triple berry mocktail recipe isn’t quite the same as the sparkling berry mocktail I had at Bitter & Twisted, but it’s still pretty dang good. And a nice change from this citrus strawberry mocktail I make so often! It would be perfect for an Oscars viewing party along with these fun Oscars bingo cards!
Triple Berry Mocktail Ingredients
You start with a berry simple syrup recipe made using sugar, water, and Vital Proteins’ Mixed Berry Collagen Peptides. The mixed berry peptides add a subtle flavor of berry to the simple syrup and bonus, you get all of the benefits of collagen (like healthy hair, stronger nails, and improved joint health) in the drink. The collagen peptides are made with organic berries, so it’s kind of like adding fresh berries to the syrup but in a simpler form. And just another way you can use collagen in your everyday life!
Next up is the berry puree. Simply combine three types of berries (I used blackberries, strawberries, and raspberries) with some sugar and puree in a high-powered blender (we use this Vitamix) until totally smooth and almost liquified. Getting the puree smooth is really important because if it’s chunky, the consistency of the drink won’t be the same. The last ingredient is a simple base of Sprite. If you’re trying to avoid sodas or want this to be less sweet, you can also use a berry flavored sparkling water, but it’s definitely not as good.
How to Make this Triple Berry Mocktail
There are three parts of the mocktail – a berry simple syrup, a triple berry puree, and Sprite (or sparkling water if you’d prefer something less sweet). You make each of them on their own and then combine the three together with a little splash of lime juice for one delicious drink. You can watch the video below to see how this mocktail comes together! I prefer to pour the drink over the tiny little cubed ice or Sonic ice but if that’s not available, just use whatever ice you can. It’s definitely a drink that’s meant to be cold.
