As my oldest son gets older and older, he’s quickly growing out of the simple things like this St. Patrick’s Day i-spy and growing into things that take actual reading, searching, and advanced thinking like word searches and crosswod puzzles. Luckily I don’t think he’ll ever grow out of my scavenger hunts, but that’s not the point of this post. So I thought it’d be create some St. Patrick’s Day word searches that you could use for the holiday! Combine these with this St. Patrick’s Day trivia game and these St. Patrick’s Day would you rather questions for some magical St. Patrick’s Day fun for any age!
Printable Word Searches
I normally just make one version of each of my word searches but recently I had a couple of readers ask me for a more challenging version that could be used in middle school, high school, or even with adults – so I decided to make two versions using the same word search list.
One version has larger print, less letters to look through, and is going to be better for younger kids like kindergarten through fifth grade.
The second version is going to be a little more difficult. You have to find the same words but the number of letters to search through is double and the font size is much smaller.
For both, all you have to do is find the words, circle them, and cross them out at the bottom! The process is easy, finding the words – not so much.
Both word searches are included in the printable pack at the bottom of this post. They also come with an answer key for each version because let’s face it, there are times you just can’t find the word no matter how hard you look!
The answer key will give you those words you just couldn’t seem to find.
Expert Tips
Laminate the word searches and use dry erase markers to circle and mark things off as you go. Then instead of throwing away the word searches, do it again later in the season or next year! If one word search is too easy, move onto the challenging one next. Just because they’re the same words doesn’t make the second, more challenging version, any easier.
